Top 5 Reasons Your Website Sucks

Your website sucks if your business is like most businesses out there. Most businesses tend to focus too much on the idea that having a simple website will do the trick and not have to worry about it anymore.

Most businesses tend to think it’s a simple job and not having to reinvest into the website would serve them justice by focusing on other efforts like constantly posting on social media, or marketing and advertising. All of these are important by the way, but guess where they all end up 90% of the time.

You guessed it. Your website.

Most websites suck. And if you are like these business owners, chances are, your website sucks too.

So let me show you why and how you can fix it.

1. Your website sucks if you decided to cheap out on a good quality website

website sucks because of a cheap website

But what makes a good quality website? I can tell you that if you hired a web designer off of the freelancing websites like Fiverr or Upwork to get the job done and say hired someone from a foreign country for $5.00 then you probably missed every single point of having the website in the first place besides the fact that you need one.

A good website is built around your business. And no i’m not talking about the pretty designs, your service or product you’re trying to sell. Iā€™m talking about the structure. What it means to you and how your business uses it to succeed.

Your website should be built around your business brand. Branding especially in 2024 is found to be one of the most crucial factors to increase the sales and reputation. Just ask your favorite entrepreneurs like Alex Hormozi. Oh wait, you canā€™t, heā€™s too busy working on the brand of his business. And you know that because you see him wear all the apparel in his videos. Thatā€™s grade A branding.

Do you think a person like him spent only $5.00 for a website that continues to raise his fortunes?

2. Your website sucks if you are focused on selling.

All these offers you show your audience might be good, in fact they might be great, but you might be doing it too much and too early. Businesses that focus more on their customers to show how they can help them than to sell them, tend to get a higher return and earn a valuable customer.

No matter if it is a service or a product they buy from you, focusing on the needs of your customer and showing that you care about solving their problems will gain more trust from your audience and see you more as a valuable resource to work with.

If you want to decrease the likelihood that your website sucks, start by making an introduction on how you can best serve them. Because at the end of the day, if they canā€™t find a reason on why they should work with you, thatā€™s not on them, thatā€™s on you.

3. Your website sucks because you chose pretty over functionality and usage.

website sucks because its a pretty website

Have you looked at your website and asked yourself ā€œHow can I get more people to buy from me?ā€ Chances are, you might be missing a lot of key components that can get people to buy from you. You see, a pretty website will only show that you know what a good website ā€œlooks likeā€, but under the hood there is nothing that can serve you.

You should treat your website like the software it is.

A website is made simple these days that most businesses tend to forget that it is a piece of software. To get on the right track, you need to start diving into your business and ask yourself ā€œHow can I best use my website to get me more customersā€.

Different avenues that a website can be used for if your website sucks

A helpful tip would be to start thinking of ways to integrate your marketing with your website and turn it into a lead generating magnet. A good website would have the ability to make sure that any part that they engage on, can turn over to a sales process that works for your business. That doesnā€™t necessarily mean you are trying to sell them every step of the way.

The bigger picture would be the fact that you are hitting an interest of theirs that they feel great about engaging with the content you have.

4. Your website sucks if you choose to work with a designer who just designs.

Thereā€™s a lot of them out there. A lot of web designers, in fact Kauai Growth is a Web Design and Digital Marketing Agency, but we didnā€™t make this to sell you our stuff. It is your right to know what a good designer is, so let me explain.

Your website sucks if you choose to hire a web designer who knows only to build websites. To differentiate a good web designer from a bad one will not just show you pretty pictures from what was explained before, they will focus on what is needed for your business like we do.

There are web designers out there that overcharge or undersell you on a website to just build the website, but how does that really serve your business? For one, you need a web designer that can understand what your business is and is focused on helping you succeed. While a bonus would be a web designer thatā€™s very entrepreneurial to help you navigate the vision behind your business.

A good web designer will only give you the things you need along with the right suggestions that can support your business growth.

5. Your website sucks if you are not providing value.

Sometimes pretty is good, but I wouldnā€™t confuse pretty with value. Value is not a ā€œpretty pennyā€. Value is something that you can give to your customers that make them feel like they are getting their moneyā€™s worth from working with you.

Providing value is to ensure that all the materials you have, whether it is your website, marketing, advertising or social media content, is hitting the right target, the pain points and frustrations that your audience might be facing. In hindsight, these metrics would not be visible at first, until you show them what theyā€™re missing. Now that’s value.

If your website sucks. This might help you.
